COGNITIVE MAP Introduction A cognitive map is a visual learning tool that helps students organize, connect, and understand complex concepts in a meaningful way. It presents ideas in a structured format, enabling learners to grasp relationships between different subtopics at a glance. In biology, cognitive maps are especially useful for summarizing vast portions of content and enhancing conceptual clarity, critical thinking, and long-term retention. Cognitive Map 1: Excretory Products and Their Elimination This cognitive map explains the process of excretion in humans, highlighting excretory products, organs involved, and regulatory mechanisms. It begins with different types of excretory products such as ammonia, urea, and uric acid, along with examples of organisms that eliminate each type. The map clearly depicts the human excretory system, including a pair of kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra. The mechanism of urine formation is well illustrated through the th...

A REPORT ON INNOVATIVE WORK – 2 CLASS : IX UNIT : BEHIND MOVEMENTS TOPIC : PLANT MOVEMENTS WORK : WORKING MODEL OF VENUS FLYTRAP INTRODUCTION Plant movements are an interesting and important part of the Class IX Biology syllabus. However, students often find it difficult to understand how plants respond to stimuli. To make this concept clear and attractive, an innovative working model of the “Venus Flytrap” was prepared using simple, low-cost materials. This model demonstrates how plants show movement in response to touch. It is a kind of Nastic movement. The nastic movement is not dependent the stimuli. OBJECTIVES • To help students understand plant movements through a real-like working model • To demonstrate how the Venus Flytrap closes its leaves when touched • To promote activity-based and experiential learning PROCEDURE A working model of Venus Flytrap was designed to take the topic Plant movements in 9 th standard. In a real Venus Flytrap, when an insect touche...
